Ancient Oils In Ancient Times

In ancient Egypt, the Priest and Priestess at the Healing Temples of Hatha and Dendera both taught and administered the sacred science of essential oils. This knowledge which was handed down by the priest/priestess inititates for over 5,000 years is recorded on the walls of Dendera temple. Some believe that Jesus and Mary Magdalene participated in the mystery school as taught at Dendera and learned the magic of the esoteric anointing oils.

The Egyptian Blue Lotus, Frankincense, Myrrh, Galbanum and Rose were all treasured for their healing and spiritual properties. They were kept as treasures and fiercely guarded as if they were gold! There is an outer building at Dendera temple called the Sanatorium which the initiates were anointed with essential oils by the priest/ess in order to experience prophetic and oracular dreams. The Sanatorium was later used as a healing center, where holy water was mixed with essential oils, amulets and crystals were used for bathing to relieve physical pain, mental and emotional stress. The Greeks and later the Romans adapted this practice and carried it into the Celtic Britain and Gaul, thus the idea of “spa” was born!

We will also learn about 9 different Carrier Oils

Carrier oils are also known as base oils, massage oils, vegetable oils, and fixed oils. They are called “fixed” because they are not as volatile as essential oils but are still prone to evaporation and oxidization. Their molecules are larger than essential oils and therefore stay in the plant rather than being easily released like essential oils. Unlike essential oils, carrier oils are greasy and will leave an oily mark on absorbent paper.
