Connecting to Earth
Your earthen body forms the sacred container that gives you the ability to experience life in the physical realm. The container of your body holds your connection to the other elements, Air, Water, Fire and Spirit. Earth gives you the capacity to stand on your own as an individuated being, an individual, yet connected, spark of spirit expressing in this world. The developmental task with the element of Earth involves honoring this connection of spirit and matter.
The Earth herself exists as a sacred being, and when you value Earth’s divine function, she assists you by revealing her essence. By learning to work with Earth skills, you discover how to bring your essence-spirit-filled creative ideas into form and anchor them fully in the physical world.
Earth teaches you to honor and respect the sacredness of the matter of your life (body, home, garden, clothes, cars, finances, and food). She helps you develop strong foundational systems and fill them with gratitude. Here you understand that an act as simple as paying your bills, cleaning your house, or creating a meal is a holy function, just as important as any ritual.

Exercise
Take a walk in nature; or in your community. During this walk take notice of the ground you walk on; the trees, birds, flowers all of these are being contained by Mother Earth. Give thanks and gratitude to her.
